I went to check out the exhibit for the Canada 150th. It was a nice set up with lots of information. They had a cool board game that I wish was still around today that helped kids learn french and English when they came to Canada. I thought that was really cool. There was an area that you could not take any photos and had to stay quiet. The security was nice and friendly. They let you know what was acceptable in that room and were kind about it all. They have a coat check and paid parking. Not a lot of people where there so it was nice to be able to walk around and enjoy it.

Library of Parliament
Located inside parliament building at the center of city of Ottawa, this library survived of big fire, which destroyed all other part of the building, on February 3, 1916, a member of parliament noticed smoke in the House of Commons Reading Room in the Centre Block of the parliament building. The fire quickly raced out of control, but as the Library of Parliament had been built with iron safety doors, which were slammed shut against the fire and smoke, and a narrow corridor separating the Library from the Centre Block also contributed to the Library's survival. The Library’s wood panelling features more than 1,600 designs, featuring flowers, masks and mythical beasts. The statue of Queen Victoria situated at the centre of the Main Library was carved by Marshall Wood from a block of white marble. It is 3.45 metres tall and weighs about 3,500 kilograms. The Library’s dome measures 47.2 metres in diameter and 40.2 metres from the floor to its top. The galleries display eight coats of arms – seven for the provinces at the time the Library opened and one for Canada.Public can visit the liabrary, it's part of parliament building tour, a must see at Ottawa, you need go early in the morning, and get a ticket at the visiting center cross the street, there is Terry Fox statue in front of it.

The Library of Parliament (1876) in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, stands on a bluff overlooking the Ottawa River. French explorer Samuel de Champlain passed here in 1613.

Grande Bibliothèque de BAnQ
It was such a calm and reassuring library knowing that people are still reading in this modern technological age of Super computers and lightning fast internet.Plenty of books in case you are wondering- fantastic collection of books for every reader. There is a fast elevator to take you up and down the 4 floors.Saw a lot of staff around and quiet areas where you could work.Computers to for those who need then. It's free to enter so anyone can. Parking is available outside and is metered - what a blessing in Montreal. If you like reading go to this library.

We didn't get to tour inside. The EN tours were full for the day. Was so disappointed. Walked around & appreciated this stunning building from the outside.

People, brace yourselves if you are bookworms! I lost myself here. Its a calm, warm, clean and spacious library with tons of thousands of books and activities for you to spend afternoons letting yourself be free to work, learn, study in a quiet and beautiful atmosphere. 100% recommended to go, specially if you are visiting Montreal. So worth it.

The most beautiful library in Montreal. I really love the music room on 5th floor. Staff are all friendly and so helpful! Location is also good, connects to the subway(I saw that the parking fee is around $12)

I’ve had the privilege of visiting while it was under construction and the history of that place and its ornate design blew me away! So beautiful and irreplaceable.
