Youth hostel

Typical hostel format. I was in a room that could house 8. The place was not very full. I was able to get a bottom bunk. Given that the hostel was pretty empty I got a great price without any of the noise. It was very pleasant not having someone climb to the top bunk. The hostel is in a fantastic location. Super central and walkable. There was ample street parking, but it was a Sunday which means it was all free. Not sure what I would a have done if not. Service was great. Friendly and not overbearing.

I’m so glad I found this place. It’s cozy and welcoming, quiet at night. The staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly, giving tips about local food, helping with bags, and looking up transportation options. There was free breakfast, linens and towels were provided, showers, toilets, bedrooms and common areas were clean and inviting. The shower room had a basket of trial size amenities to make use of, the water was plentiful and hot.I can’t recommend it enough. I would stay here over a hotel even if the prices were the same. I loved meeting people and wish I could stay longer.

Loving this place and most important thing it’s a very secure place for girls. I will highly recommend to all to join 83 cedar international students residence.

The bunk beds make a ton of noise. The state of the room is run down; the windows are broken. Lastly, seems to attract loud/smelly/inconsiderate guests that will disturb your sleep at 4 to 5 in the morning for up to an hour.

This is a neat auberge/hostel. I enjoyed the atmosphere and very friendly staff. It is well kept, clean, and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. The lounge is homey. They do your laundry (for a reasonable fee). They provide towels, soap, and shampoo. Free continental style breakfast with toast, waffles, bagels, cereal and fruit. Orange juice and coffee. They also have a bar. There is a wonderful patio with patio lanterns/light with plenty of room to sit and enjoy the afternoon or evening. If you are looking for an affordable place to stay, this is a great option. You have to be comfortable sharing a room and bathroom, as that is how hostels work for the most part. I'm not sure they have private rooms as some hostels do. But it's a great experience, especially when traveling on a budget.

What a great place to play pool, ping pong and darts. The service was excellent. The pizza was delicious! Very welcoming atmosphere. Hopefully they will bring back live music soon.

I've been coming here since the early 2000's. It is a well equipped and comfortable hostel with a northern Ontario quaintness. The rates are very reasonable, even for a private, large room outfitted with a couch. I'd love to see a fire pit added to the amenities. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the building is clean. I've always been able to find a room here whenever I've needed one. This is excellent basic accommodation without frills or luxuries. Be prepared that the stores in town close early, by 6pm (even the gas station) so if you are arriving later than that, stock up prior to arrival. The hostel does have some pantry items available for sale for good prices. Things for the owner to consider: improve the shower on the third floor, oddly there is no cold water coming out of any taps for filling drinking water, and add a freezer for travellers ice packs. Overall though, none of the things to consider would stop me from recommending this hostel to budget travellers.

Very Nice and clean place for international student. Building owner is very supportive and caring.

** WARNING! AVOID THIS PLACE **The only good thing about this place is the location, other than that this place should be shutdown by the Montreal city hall! This so-called 'hostel' is the worst I've ever been in my 12 years travelling worldwide! The rooms can be easily accesed by anyone from the street, you have a locker but that's it as for security, I really didn't feel secure at night. There is only one bathroom for the whole place and no division between toilet and shower(Very disgusting), the check-in is a nightmare!!! I had to wait for 3 hours to get a bed and they charge you for absolute everything. If you are traveling solo and have the expectation to get a hostel atmosphere to meet people, this is not the place, you will feel like you are in a refugee concentration camp.If you read this and still want to stay at this place please DON'T EVER PAY WITH CREDIT CARD The worst part is that if you pay with credit card they can overcharge you whatever amount they want, they charge" taxes that even surpases the amount of the reservation. In my case they double charged my CC and took months to get that amount back. They don't provide receipts or anything as proof that you actually stayed there.As recap this place is disgusting

Was pleasantly surprised as you never know when you book a place to stay . This place was clean the staff was very friendly. The room was very nice, bed was comfortable and it was really quiet. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again in the future .
