Harbor Island National Wildlife Refuge is in the Potagannissing Bay of Lake Huron, Michigan, just south of the Canadian border. The refuge’s biggest island, Harbor Island, has a large marsh-lined harbor popular with boaters. The islands have sandy beaches and mature stands of balsam fir, white cedar, paper birch, sugar maple and red oak. The gently rolling terrain of the island peaks around 100-feet above lake level. Resident wildlife species include ruffed grouse, snowshoe hare, white-throated sparrows, white-tailed deer, gray jays and magnolia warblers.

Wonderful little “zoo”. It’s great to see all the animals they rescue and give a second chance to. Fun little maze and train ride

Pamela is a genuine hero. She is doing amazing work giving these orphaned animals the best life possible. I brought her an orphaned baby Red Squirrel and feel confident she will give him the best chance at a successful return to nature.

Penny Lane Farm Sanctuary
The Penny Lane Sanctuary open houses are a great way to expose your kids to animals in a way that isn't harmful for the animals. It was a bit busy given it's been almost 3 years since they last hosted an event (due to the pandemic) - my only suggestion would be timed tickets vs open house but I'm sure they had capacity limits so it wasn't unsafe, it just might have been more enjoyable for both the people and the animals. They have so many rescue animals, from cows and horses to sheep, goats, geese, rabbits, pigs turkeys, and so on. I loved seeing the cows and it meant so much to us that some of their calves were born there and get to live their lives free of cruelty. Definitely a place worth supporting over places that exploit animals ❤️

Olympic Game Farm
Been here other times over the years and always have enjoyed visiting the farm, which is like a drive-thru zoo. The price has certainly went up over the years and you have to purchase their bread at $3 / loaf in addition to your entrance fee. The animals are such hams and fun to watch and feed. Lots of Yaks at the beginning and then some Llamas. They were pretty gentle, but very eager for a piece of bread. Then there was bears that are behind a fence area, but still where you can feed them. One was an absolute cutie and sat so patiently waiting for some bread. Then went around the lions, tiger's, wolves and coyotes all in a caged area. Then onto the section with the elk, some type of deer and Buffalo. We certainly enjoyed the tour and experience with the animals. Lots of smiles and laughs. Looking forward to bringing our grandkids here someday.

I found two baby squirrels in our bin and I gave them to raise them properly. I wrote an email to them the day before. I've got the response really soon! It was absolutely positive! Good to know that, you guys will take care of them! Thank you!
