November 2020 – NEWSLETTER Pre-Casa, Casa, and Junior/Senior Preparatory Monday, November 2nd, 2020 Dear Parents/Guardians, The beauties of the fall season lead us into a new month of learning and discovery! As we embark into our third month at YMPS, we would like parents to know that we continue to enforce and practice all safety guidelines mandated by York Region and the health ministry. We also recommend that all parents/guardians continue taking the necessary safety precautions during these unprecedented times. Our number one priority is ensuring the safety of all students, staff, and families at YMPS. NOTE TO PARENTS: ANY PARENTS WHO GET TESTED FOR COVID 19 OR WHO HAVE COME INTO CONTACT WITH ANYONE WITH COVID 19 MUST INFORM THE SCHOOL IMMEDIATELY!!!! THIS IS A REQUIREMENT FROM THE MINISTRY!!!! We will be exploring the following themes this month: Pre-Casa/Casa 1: Remembrance Day Corn Shakers Police Officers Trains Freezing and Melting Casa 2: Remembrance Day Rice Shakers Land Transportation Firefighters Freezing and Melting Casa 3: Remembrance Day Land Transportation Fire Station Hibernation/ Migration Planets Junior/Senior Kindergarten Transportation and Remembrance Day Occupations Planets Hibernation/ Migration Parents/Guardians are encouraged to discuss and familiarize students with the upcoming themes to help promote a more meaningful understanding. Our website has been officially opened since October 12th for everyone at YMPS. Each student has a username and password which has been emailed to every parent. Please check your email if you received the log in information. Due to COVID 19 no homework or worksheets will be sent home. Parents must access homework and worksheets on the website. For example, senior kindergarten students must go under the category senior kindergarten to retrieve the homework files. This website is very beneficial for all students at YMPS. It is very educational and interactive, and focuses on all areas of learning ranging from reading, writing, and mathematics. The French category on the website will be opening up very soon with a variety of activities for students to work on. If you have any questions or issues regarding accessing the website please call YMPS at (905)294-4415. Little Treehouse Child Care Centre
Little treehouse provides such a safe, fun and caring environment. My son started here a few months ago when he was 18 months old and it has been a positive experience since the first day. The staff here are genuinely caring for the kids, provide timely updates to make sure parents are aware of their activities throughout the day. My son transitioned surprisingly easily and I was so pleased with him picking up new words, concepts here! Would definitely recommend this place!

We love this Daycare and our boy's second home. A little bit expensive for a parent portion but its worth it. The staffs and teachers are very friendly and they are ready to engaged to the conversation. Daycare are well organized and cleanliness, as you feel comfortable and safety when you leave your child in their hands. Thank you for take good care of our boys from babies up to Grade 4. We recommend this daycare.

Great Journeys Learning Center
The preschool teachers here are really fabulous and they have all-day care. My 3 yo son is always enthusiastic to come to school and comes home full of stories about his day and his friends.

Wee Watch Licensed Home Child Care Oakville
My husband and I had a fantastic experience with Wee Watch Oakville. The Supervisor (Bonnie R.) for the Oakville region was fantastic to deal with. She was professional, kind, caring and very good at her job. She listened to my initial concerns and found a perfect provider (Linda) for my son. I would highly recommend Wee Watch Child Care to others.

Kids R Fun Daycare preschool before and after school
Our daughter has been going to KrF 8th Ave since she was 12 months old. We are so grateful to KrF! They hire the right staff- people who genuinely love kids and care about them so much.The daycare is very well-managed. The manager understands kids, and is very caring and professional.They give the kids excellent teaching and care. The facility is clean and bright. We highly recommend this daycare!

Playful Spirit
I have known the Principal Emily Goodwin for a few years, both within the Playful Spirit business and personally. I am a birth to school age photographer and my life, my love and my friends all have young children and I know how respected Playful Spirit is amongst parents. I have also been involved in some of her sessions and love it! They are fun, they are musical and educational. Emily's peaceful management of these young people is amazing!

Next Prep Academy
We had our little one there for a good 7 months.This is by far the most expensive daycare in the area and therefore usually has spots. For the money I was excited to see what they could bring to the table. It wasn’t great.First positives:- The facilities are fantastic and new.- A ton of parents are super friendly and there’s a constant stream of birthday cupcakes and treats to share.- My daughter loved Ms. Valerie and Ms. Afsha. Thank you for teaching her!Here are the negatives and hopefully constructive feedback for Next Prep:- There is very little transparency when it came to the teachers communicating to us what the kids were learning and doing during the day. The entire 7 months we only got a 4-5 art work sent back home to us the entire time. I had no idea what my daughter was doing during the day besides the generic 3 bullet points on a white board at the front door.- Most days were pick ups from the outdoor playground area. Every day my daughter would be so filthy with sand and dirt I suspected (even if it may not be the case) that she was outside for a very long time. Play time outside is a break for most daycare teachers who just watch the kids as they do their own thing. If I wanted to pay this much for them to not even try to keep communication open of what she’s learning and doing, I would just let my in laws watch her for the day.- Uniforms are questionable at this age and their actual practicality is still just assumed.- I felt some teachers in this place were cold and callous. My daughter constantly said “Teacher scare me” and didn’t really speak positively about the other teachers when we spoke. Her 0-3 year old daycare teachers were way more warm and she loved them way more. When she got a splinter one day when I was picking her up, (again from outside) the teacher didn’t seem to care at all and told me to handle it at home. It would’ve been nice if they showed some more kindness to a toddler and maybe offered to help wash her hands at the very least. Maybe provide some first aid? Another example is one day she had a huge bruise on her head and the teacher told me “I think she just hit her head on the slide. We aren’t sure” Super nonchalantly and without a care in the world. These are just a few examples from the top of my head.TLDR: This place is super expensive and I would’ve wanted more transparency and kindness from the teachers here. I don’t want them to bend over backwards for each kid, but I never felt like this place went above and beyond to make both the toddler and parent experience meet the exorbitant price.

Our son of 5 goes there and it's by far a better experience than any regular school. Small class, LOTS of fun and teaching activities. He brings home new words in english and french, knows how to count, even a bit advanced for pre school.Definitely brings your kids there in full confidence!
